The Veil Hybrid Class: Requirements, Rules and How to Build a Hybrid Loadout
Check whether you can make a hybrid in The Veil, which class abilities may be combined, and why ultra class abilities can never be mixed.
There is no separately named "Hybrid" class in The Veil. A hybrid is a loadout state: you equip abilities from more than one super class you own — for example, keeping a Crusader ability while adding Marauder skills like Vanishing Gambit or Flash Step — and the loadout is then flagged as hybrid. The prerequisite is owning at least two super classes; mixing only works at the super tier, so you cannot build a hybrid until you've unlocked a second class.
How the class system works
Classes come in two tiers:
- Super classes are the flexible tier. You can freely mix super class abilities into a hybrid loadout, and you can hold multiple super classes and swap between them.
- Ultra classes are the commitment tier. One per character, and their abilities cannot be mixed with any other class's abilities — no ultra hybrids.
Out of combat, you can re-equip your ultra class or swap between super hybrid setups at any time, so you can experiment with super combinations freely and only face a real commitment when you accept an ultra class.
The hybrid trade-off
A hybrid loadout forfeits the pure class's stat buff. A pure Marauder keeps its +8% speed bonus (with a resistance penalty); a pure Crusader keeps its heal and blind-resistance bonuses — the exact values differ between what's shown in current gameplay footage (+5% heal boost, +10% blind resistance, a negative speed modifier) and summaries elsewhere, so check the trainer's description in-game. Mix abilities from another class into the loadout and those buffs are gone. Hybrid is flexibility in exchange for the passive.
Prerequisites: owning classes you can hybridize
Each class you want to mix requires its own unlock:
- Meet the alignment currency gate. Most classes require 30 Sins (chaotic path, from killing players) or 30 Offerings (orderly path, from good deeds such as quests and bounty-style tasks — exactly which tasks count is currently inconsistent between accounts, so confirm in-game). The Marauder is a mixed case at 15 Sins + 15 Offerings. Sins can be farmed via the Idol of Hatreds, a farmable item found behind a bookshelf in the Weeping Crypt's cave, plus server-hopping or trading kills with a friend of a different prestige tier.
- Pass the class quest. Every class has one and difficulty varies — the Marauder's is a timed 3-minute on-foot run to a keep called Echo Hold. No teleporting is allowed; the trainer checks for cheating, and attempting it at night is a bad idea.
- Bring about 1,000 silver to pay the trainer before the class is granted.
- Find and talk to the class trainer to pay and unlock the class. Trainer locations are under-documented; the official Discord's help channels are the fastest source of directions.
Assembling a hybrid loadout
- Unlock at least two super classes (each requires its own alignment currency, class quest and silver payment).
- Out of combat, open your ability loadout and swap out any class ability you don't want — e.g., replace the Crusader heal move with Marauder's Vanishing Gambit.
- Equip abilities from more than one owned class; the loadout is then flagged as hybrid. You can keep going — e.g., take the Marauder dash or aura while retaining a priest/Crusader move.
- Change anything you want at any time out of combat; you can keep switching between every class you own. Community examples include Crusader + Hive Disciple (heal yourself while poisoning everyone around you).
- Accept that going hybrid removes the pure class's stat buff for that loadout.
Restrictions and checks: when a combination is invalid
- Ultra class abilities never mix. One ultra class per character, and its abilities cannot be combined with any other class's abilities. After committing, you cannot talk to other ultra class trainers anymore, and you're expected to fully learn your ultra class's entire skill set.
- The only way out of a wrong ultra pick is Kharvos, an NPC who can reset your ultra class through a trade. What the trade costs is unconfirmed, so do not pick an ultra class expecting a free undo.
- Swapping and hybrid reconfiguration are allowed out of combat only. If your loadout won't reconfigure, check that you're not in combat and that you're not trying to mix ultra class abilities.
Class names: what's confirmed vs. community-documented
Only four class names trace to an official source — Berserker, GODSEEKER, FLORIST and sentinel — and there is no official class list yet. Creator-documented (not official) classes include Gladiator (warrior with rage mode, Sins), Duskwing (shinobi archetype with grapple hook), Hive Disciple (poisons via bug swarms), Sky Sentinel (orderly summoner — 30 Offerings plus killing five Angry Nimbuses that spawn only in rain), Florist (druid-style nature class), Marauder (speed: Surge Aura, Vanishing Gambit, Flash Step — 15 Sins + 15 Offerings), Cultist (evil summoner, Sins), and Crusader (priest-style support shown on camera). Summoning comes in two alignments: Sky Sentinel on the Offerings side, Cultist on the Sins side. Treat all names beyond the confirmed four as current community documentation, and recheck mixing restrictions, tier behavior and reset costs after patches, since these numbers are a post-launch snapshot.
