The Veil Gems: Verified Names, Uses, Enchants & Rarity

In The Veil (Roblox), gems are items used for two confirmed purposes: completing blacksmith tasks and enchanting weapons. Community reports add that different gems correspond to different enchants, and that gems are bound to you rather than the weapon — the enchant effect applies to whatever weapon you currently have equipped.

What gems are and where they come from

The gem sources players agree on are trinket spawn points and chests; whether additional pickup locations exist hasn't been pinned down. Players also report that gems drop from enemies and can be picked up in the world.

Gems can also be rolled with silver:

• Starry — an NPC who lets you spend silver to roll for gems.
• Gem gacha at the sky island top — 500 silver per roll (or 32 Robux), with displayed rates of 60% uncommon, 40% rare, 10% epic, and 1% for either a shadow diamond or one other unidentified legendary gem.

Descriptions of silver gem-rolling are currently inconsistent: one places it with the NPC Starry, another places the gacha on the sky island above the Shimmering Sanctum teleport. These may be the same NPC or two separate roll points — check in-game which one you're standing at before spending silver.

Gem tasks — don't spend your only gem

Because tasks are a confirmed gem sink, check task requirements before spending your last gem:

• Bobby (blacksmith quest) — located in Echohold inside the labyrinth, he asks for a gem as part of his task. Echohold sits in the labyrinth depths; community directions say to head away from the large damaging door at the labyrinth's center (community-reported route — walk it yourself before trusting it).
• Shimmering Sanctum NPC — an NPC there asks for a gem and teleports you to the sky island. Activating the TP obelisk there removes the need to hand him another gem.

Documented enchant: shadow diamond

Applying a shadow diamond at the blacksmith produced the enchant Shadow Lightning: "Imbue weapon with shadow lightning dealing 7 damage, stunning for .5 and applying shadow fire." In testing it struck down lightning on proc, hitting a mini-boss for 19 damage and setting it on fire — described as "like a whole another ability in itself as an enchant." The visual shows the effect on the blade. The gacha lists the shadow diamond as a 1% legendary-tier outcome; the second 1% legendary gem's identity is unknown.

Known enchant names and what remains unknown

Two enchant names have surfaced from player reports: aquamarine and flame. Beyond that, uncertainty is real and worth knowing before you spend:

• There is no complete enchant list yet.
• The gem-to-enchant mapping (which gem produces which effect) is not confirmed — shadow lightning is a single documented example.
• Whether enchants have rarity tiers is an open question players have asked without an answer.
• How enchantment tomes ("enchantment tome" and "tome dominion," applied at the enchanter/enhancement NPC in the spawn area) differ from gem enchants is not confirmed.

Rarity information — what is known

The gem gacha's displayed rates name four tiers: uncommon (60%), rare (40%), epic (10%), and a 1% legendary tier containing the shadow diamond plus one other unidentified gem. Beyond these rolled tiers, no complete rarity ladder for individual gems is documented — the uncommon/rare/epic/legendary wording on the gacha is roll-rate labeling, not proof of a full rarity system. The enchant price is 100 silver per attempt (official update log); failed enchant attempts most often show a message about not having enough money, so check your wallet before assuming a bug.
