The Veil Enchants: Costs, Requirements & How to Apply

What enchanting does in The Veil, what it costs, which gems and silver to bring to the blacksmith, and which effects are confirmed before you spend resources.

Enchanting in The Veil pushes a weapon beyond its base stats: silver pays for the work (100 silver per enchant) and a gem powers the effect. To apply one, bring a gem — such as a ruby, sapphire, or quartz — plus enough silver to the blacksmith in the spawn town as part of the enchant-your-weapon quest. Note that during the quest interaction the blacksmith asks for 200 silver, while the enchant itself is priced at 100, so check the in-game prompt before assuming one number.

Enchanting scope

What is verified versus what is still unconfirmed:

  • Gems are used for blacksmith tasks and enchanting weapons, confirmed on the official Discord. Gems come from trinket spawn points, chests, world drops, and silver rolls at the NPC Starry.
  • Gems are reported (high launch-day consensus) to be bound to the player, not the weapon — the enchant applies to whatever weapon you currently have equipped.
  • Different gems reportedly correspond to different enchants. Only two enchant names have surfaced, both from player reports: aquamarine and flame.
  • The full enchant list, the gem-to-enchant mapping, and whether enchants have rarity tiers are unknown. Effect values are unmeasured — don't expect a specific stat gain from any given gem.
  • Enchantment Tomes exist and are reportedly applied to a weapon at the enchanter/enhancement NPC in the spawn area. How tome effects relate to gem enchants is not confirmed, so treat tomes and gems as separate, individually checked items — not interchangeable. The common mistake is trying to use an Enchantment Tome on the weapon directly; tomes are reportedly only used for equipment.

Requirements and costs

  • Enchant price: 100 silver per enchant, per the official launch-day update log.
  • Quest interaction price: the blacksmith asks for 200 silver during the enchant quest. These two figures currently differ, so check the in-game prompt before spending.
  • Material to bring: a gem — ruby, sapphire, or quartz are examples.
  • Where to get gems: loot trinket spawn points (reported as more reliable than mob kills), chests, world drops, or roll for them with silver at Starry.
  • Second gem sink: Bobby's blacksmith task, located in Echohold inside the labyrinth (community-reported location — verify in-game), requires a gem. Don't spend your only gem on an enchant before checking whether you need it for that task.

Application steps

  1. Complete the enchant-your-weapon quest step that directs you to the blacksmith in the spawn town.
  2. Bring a gem (ruby, sapphire, quartz, etc.) and enough silver — the quest interaction asks for 200 silver, and each enchant costs 100.
  3. Hand over the materials at the blacksmith. If an enchant attempt fails, the most common message is about not having enough money — check your wallet before blaming the system.

Practical cautions before spending

  • Bank silver before rolling: between 100-silver enchants and gem rolls at Starry, one upgrade session can eat a large chunk of the 50,000 base silver storage cap.
  • Do not burn a gem on the first weapon you find; wait until you have a weapon or build worth investing in.
  • Loot chests and trinket points on every labyrinth run — they are confirmed gem sources you pass anyway.
  • The game is receiving fast patches and balance changes; recheck costs and effect values before spending resources.
