The Veil Beginner Guide (Roblox) — First Session Steps
Start The Veil on Roblox the right way: redeem starting codes, reroll your race, learn sanity and weaving, and pick your first quest direction.
The Veil on Roblox — confirm the game
The Veil is a Roblox MMORPG (16 players per server, by Blackstar DW Studios) that drops you into a labyrinth full of hordes with your sanity on a timer and other players somewhere in the dark. It's Terraria-inspired, currently in Beta v1.0.0 with weekly patches, and your character slot carries progress across shutdowns. The spawn town is your safe zone.
Don't confuse it with other works sharing the title — and note that some community content mislabels it; always launch from the official Blackstar DW Studios Roblox experience.
Your first session
- Create your character slot — your slot carries your progress across shutdowns.
- Redeem codes in the in-game shop's code section after joining the Blackstar DW Studios Roblox group:
Verity Bomb(3 race rerolls) andRelease(6 race rerolls plus the party hat). - Reroll your race at the Stylist NPC in spawn town if you don't like your roll. Race is never permanent — free rerolls come from daily rewards and codes. Don't reroll 10 times chasing the rarest race; your build matters as much as your race, and human is fine for beginners.
- Learn the spawn town. It's the safe zone, the only place you can toggle PvP, and home to the Stylist, the potions NPC, and the enchanter. Know where the upgrade NPCs and menus are before going deep.
- Follow the main story quest. Arrows guide you where to go, and main quests carry you for a decent stretch until you get the hang of the game. Grab side quests from NPCs — they can have cool consequences and effects.
- Run the labyrinth mostly during daytime while you learn how sanity works. Loot chests and trinkets, and save useful gems instead of spending everything.
- Build prestige without taking pointless PvP risks.
- Decide your class direction before heavily enchanting and investing into gear, then unlock waypoints (pylons) and use parties once you push harder areas.
The core systems at a glance
Sanity and the day/night cycle. Sanity drains at night — that's the design intent, confirmed by a launch-day patch that fixed it draining during the day instead. The maze door opens at night and closes during the day; during daytime you can still enter the maze by teleporting to waypoints you've unlocked via pylons. At zero sanity you die instantly. Recovery: campfires in the labyrinth (places like the Runner Outpost count as big campfires) and sanity potions from an early questline or the potions NPC at the starter village. Night is also when hordes are thickest.
Combat: weaving, not parrying. The F key weaves. Successful back-to-back weaves stack up to five; at five you enter a state doing 25% more universal damage (melee, summon, or cast) plus extra universal speed. Weapons have abilities tied to them — rarer weapons have more actives and passives — and "cast" refers to magic. The first boss you kill drops a really good weapon with a thunder skill that strikes nearby mobs. Check the Information tab to see weapon abilities, manage accessories, and browse the bestiary for mob drops; the help icon inside it explains most basic systems.
Prestige, PvP and Sins. Prestige is your long-term power system: each level grants HP (community figures put it at around +50 HP per prestige; the numbers on this may vary by patch, so check your HP in the Information tab after a prestige). You earn it via boss kills, consuming rare items, and PvP kills against players whose prestige is equal to or higher than yours. Death costs 1 prestige. PvP defaults to off and can only be toggled in spawn, but outside town other players — including outlaws hunting prestige-carrying players — can attack you regardless. Killing players earns Sins, which gate evil class progression but make some NPCs refuse to talk to you; Sins can be washed at a shrine, and some quests offer PvE ways to gain them.
Classes, enhancement, exploration. Classes come from trainer NPCs (e.g. Vorax) and require Sins or Offerings — think of Sins as the chaotic alignment and Offerings as the orderly one (e.g. 30 Sins for one class). Super classes can be mixed into hybrid builds; ultra classes are serious commitments — one ultra per character, and once you equip an ultra ability you can't freely mix it with other class abilities (Carvos is associated with resetting an ultra). Known class names include berserker, god seeker, florist, and sentinel. Enhancement works like Minecraft enchanting — E cores act like enchanting levels, gems and silver are the costs, and there's even a Sharpness enchantment. Fast travel uses glowing obelisk/waypoint (pylon) structures you unlock by interacting with them; always check for one in a new area. The maze contains many distinct locations to discover — it is not empty. Parties (via the player list) are useful for deep runs, bosses, and safer prestige farming. One early side quest chain: an NPC in Verdant Hollow asks you to buy a book for 10 silver; returning it (110 silver total) rewards a free rare weapon with a regeneration/instant-heal skill.
