The Veil Races: Full Race List and Verified Traits

Complete reference for The Veil races: roster, rarity, passive traits, named abilities like Dusk Weaver and Exert Energy, plus how to identify or reroll your race.

Your race in The Veil can be checked at character creation by hovering over the race options, and your current race's effects are visible there before you choose. Each race offers a mix of traits — passive or conditional stat effects that always apply — and sometimes one or more named racial abilities, which are distinct skills with their own behavior and conditions (for example, an active buff with a cooldown-style drawback, or a skill that only works at night). This reference covers all verified races and what each is documented to do.

Verified race roster and rarity

The Veil currently has 10 unique races. The commonly listed names are:

  • Human
  • Goblin
  • Underling
  • Obelite
  • Wraith
  • Hiveling
  • Skeleton
  • Gemhead
  • Rat
  • The top-end legendary race — currently listed as Whaleborn in-game while other references spell it Veilborne; the exact in-game spelling has not been confirmed, so treat these as possibly the same race until the live game shows a settled name.

Rarity categories that are agreed on: Common (Human, the baseline), Uncommon (Goblin), Rare (Rat), and Legendary (Whaleborn/Veilborne, the rarest race). Rarity labels for Underling (Rare), Obelite (Epic), and Wraith (Rare) are not fully settled — different references disagree, and some list five races as unconfirmed rarity. The developers have not published roll odds, and one race is reserved for community events and is not obtainable normally. The game is being patched quickly during release week, so recheck names and values in-game.

Trait reference

The table below distinguishes always-on passive effects from conditional ones. Where numbers are not confirmed, they are described qualitatively rather than guessed.

Named racial abilities and conditional behavior

  • Dusk Weaver (Veilborne/Whaleborn) — passively modifies the Weave system (cap of 4 stacks, +7.5% universal damage and +7.5% speed per Weave), plus one additional skill that is only available at night.
  • Exert Energy (Obelite) — active defensive skill granting +15% Resistance while active, at the cost of reduced speed, followed by 15 seconds of reduced regeneration and stamina regeneration.
  • Wraith's evasion is a passive proc (5% chance any hit passes through harmlessly), not an active skill.
  • Hiveling's resistance bonus is conditional on time of day: +10% Resistance at night, -10% during the day.
  • Human's HP bonus is conditional on Prestige level (+5 Max HP per level).

Identifying, comparing, or changing your race

To identify or change your race:

  1. Hover over the race options at character creation to see what each race gives before choosing.
  2. Your race is not permanent — visit the Stylist NPC in the spawn town to open the reroll screen and change race without deleting your character or starting a new slot.
  3. Free rerolls come from daily rewards and codes: RELEASE grants six race rerolls plus a party hat, and VERITYBOMB grants three race rerolls.
  4. To redeem codes, join the BlackstarDW Studios Roblox group, open the in-game shop icon beneath your HP bar, and enter the code in the Codes tab.

If you want to weigh one race against another rather than read neutral descriptions, use a race comparison, or open the in-depth profile of a specific race such as Veilborne after checking the roster above.
