The Veil Veilborne Race: Dusk Weaver Weaving Mechanics Explained
What the Veilborne Dusk Weaver passive actually changes about weaving in The Veil: stack cap, per-stack bonuses, and how it differs from the baseline.
Veilborne is the only Legendary race in The Veil, and its signature passive, Dusk Weaver, changes how weaving works: the Weave stack cap drops from five to four, but each stack is worth more. At four stacks you get +30% universal damage and speed instead of the baseline +25% at five stacks — and you reach the cap one weave sooner.
Race identity and full passive kit
Veilborne's rarity comes from its Legendary drop rate, not from any extra difficulty in using it. The kit has two passives:
- Dusk Weaver — modifies the weaving system (detailed below).
- Second passive — grants +10% insanity and unlocks a night-only skill (the Night Colora), usable only at night. Its exact in-game effects are not detailed in currently circulating gameplay footage, so check the skill description in-game before building around it.
Cosmetically, the race grants chains, white or black hair, a grin face, and magenta trailing-eye aura effects.
Dusk Weaver — verified behavior
Dusk Weaver's change is straightforward:
- Stack cap: reduced from 5 to 4.
- Per stack: +7.5% universal damage and +7.5% speed, instead of the baseline +5% each.
- At full stacks: +30% damage and speed, versus +25% normally.
In a live showcase, four Weave stacks dealt 21 damage where the same action at the baseline dealt 16, with a visible pop effect appearing when the four-stack threshold is reached. The result: you hit your maximum multiplier in fewer weaves, and that maximum is larger. Treat the exact per-stack percentages as patch-sensitive values to recheck against in-game tooltips as balance updates land.
Baseline comparison
| Aspect | Baseline | With Veilborne |
|---|---|---|
| Max Weave stacks | 5 | 4 |
| Bonus per stack | +5% universal damage and +5% speed | +7.5% universal damage and +7.5% speed |
| Total bonus at full stacks | +25% damage and speed | +30% damage and speed |
| Time to reach cap | Five weaves | Four weaves (faster) |
The lightning-strike passive
The second passive's tooltip reads: gain 10% universal damage and 10% speed for 15 seconds, with the strike's damage scaling with both damage and cast damage multipliers. This comes from the description only — an in-game demonstration of its conditions and actual effect has not been captured, so verify the numbers in your own client.
Practical implications
Because Dusk Weaver reaches maximum bonus faster and with a bigger multiplier, Veilborne is broadly rated the strongest overall race (S tier), and the showcased damage boost is described as very strong — particularly suited to one-shot-style builds. The night-only skill adds utility for a minor +10% insanity cost. Keep in mind that race balance was changing rapidly at launch (a day-one patch altered two other races), so tier placements may shift.
To obtain it, spend race rerolls at the Stylist NPC in the spawn town; free rerolls come from daily rewards and codes. Before committing to Veilborne purely for its modifier, review how baseline weaving works so you can see exactly what Dusk Weaver adds — and nothing about the race requires changing how the rest of your build plays.
