The Veil Enchant Quest: Requirements, Gem Route, and Completion
Verified prerequisites for The Veil enchant quest — bring a gem and silver, follow the trinket-farming route to find one, and see what completing the task actually does.
The enchant quest sends you to a blacksmith to enchant a weapon, and completing it requires a gem plus silver — not an enchantment tome. Silver alone fails: a blacksmith approached with 200 silver and no gem simply gives no result. Once you hand over a gem, the task is confirmed to work in practice as a gem sink, though no visible "enchanting unlocked" message is documented — after completion, check the blacksmith's enchant option directly to confirm access.
Quest identity — check the dialogue before assuming
Two blacksmith tasks circulate in guides, and they may or may not be the same quest:
- A blacksmith accessible on the surface who asks for 200 silver and a gem.
- Bobby, a blacksmith located in Echohold inside the labyrinth depths, whose task asks for a gem.
No captured quest dialogue confirms these are the same NPC or the same objective, so treat the identity match as unverified. Compare the actual objective wording when you accept the quest — if the dialogue matches Bobby's task, don't spend your only gem elsewhere first, since blacksmith tasks are a known gem sink.
Verified requirements
- A gem (ruby, sapphire, quartz, etc.). A common mistake is bringing an enchantment tome instead — tomes appear to be used for equipment at a different NPC, not for this task.
- Silver. The launch-day update log set the enchant price at 100 silver, but the quest dialogue shows a 200-silver figure — the values are currently inconsistent, so bring more than 200 to be safe. If an enchant attempt fails with a message about not having enough money, check your wallet before assuming the system is broken.
Getting the required gem: trinket farming route
Farming mobs is a poor plan — the reliable route is trinket spawn points. Rotate these hotspots:
- Treehouse area: trinkets spawn on the barrels by the potion vendor and upstairs inside buildings (two found in a single building). Also check the room behind the blacksmith.
- Bridges by the music girl: 3–4 trinkets — behind her, upstairs, in barrels, and on the deck.
- Inside houses: shelves, tables, and desks (including one NPC's desk).
- The long enterable building: two trinkets inside plus one outside on the deck.
- The tower, the merchant's area (behind and inside), and behind the meat shop vendors.
Buildings with heavy visual detail usually hold 2–3 trinkets. Triple midair dash lets you cross gaps without falling. Gems also come from chests and trinket points on labyrinth runs, drop from enemies, and can be rolled for with silver at Starry.
Completion effect — and what it isn't
Completing the task with a gem is confirmed as a working gem sink, but the exact completion message and any visible "enchanting unlocked" confirmation are not documented — verify the result in-game at the blacksmith. Note that gems bind to the player, not the weapon: the enchant applies to whatever weapon you currently have equipped. Different gems correspond to different enchants, but the gem-to-enchant mapping and enchant list are not documented here.
Two cautions before a session: don't spend your only gem before checking whether the blacksmith's task needs it, and bank your silver first — 100-silver enchants plus Starry gem rolls can eat a large chunk of the 50,000-silver storage cap. For actual enchant application after this quest, see the separate enchanting guide.
