The Veil How to Get Gems: Sources, Rare & Legendary Routes
How to get gems in The Veil: trinket spawn points, chests, Starry's gem-roll NPC with costs and observed rates, plus what to do once you have a gem.
Choose your target first
What you need determines the route. Gems in The Veil are the enchanting resource — used for blacksmith tasks and enchanting weapons — and they are bound to you, not the weapon: whatever gem you hold applies its enchant to whatever weapon you currently have equipped. If you only need a gem, loot chests and trinket spawn points on every labyrinth run are the easiest way to pick one up. If you need a specific rarity — a rare gem for a particular enchant, or a legendary like the Shadow Diamond — you will likely need the Starry NPC route below.
Where gems come from
Gems are obtained from trinket spawn points, chests, and other in-game origins, and community reports add enemy drops and world pickups. Note the split: trinket spawn points, chests, and Starry rolls are established; enemy drops and floor pickups are reported by players — treat them as a bonus, not a plan.
Starry can also act as a repeatable rare-gem farming method: gameplay footage shows rare-gem farming via the NPC repeatable on a 20-minute cooldown per gem, requiring 500 silver and one random gem per attempt. The cooldown and cost were shown only briefly, so verify the current values in-game before relying on them.
Starry, the gem-roll NPC
Access route:
- Find the Shimmering Sanctum. It spawns randomly within the maze — there is no confirmed way to track it, and whether coordinates matter is unknown (viewing coordinates requires a Radar, a rare drop that can appear anywhere).
- Talk to the NPC there. They ask for a gem; hand one over to be teleported to the sky island.
- On the sky island, grab the TP obelisk in the middle area so you never have to pay the Sanctum NPC a gem again.
- The gem gacha (Starry) is on the top island, above the teleport.
Roll costs and observed rates: each roll costs 500 silver or 32 Robux and can return an uncommon, rare, epic, or legendary gem. The rates displayed in-game list roughly 60% uncommon, 40% rare, 10% epic, and 1% each for two legendary-tier results, including the Shadow Diamond (the second legendary's name was not identified). Treat these as observed displayed figures, not guaranteed official rates — a roll can still return a low-rarity gem like a sapphire, and there is no guaranteed legendary. This method suits late-game players with spare silver.
Bobby's blacksmith task in Echohold
Bobby, in Echohold inside the labyrinth, asks for a gem as part of his task. Community directions place Echohold in the labyrinth depths — head away from the large damaging door at the labyrinth's center — but this route is player-reported, so walk it yourself before trusting it. Do not spend your only gem before checking whether Bobby's task needs it.
Silver: the input that funds rolls
Silver funds gem rolls (500 per roll at Starry) and enchants (100 silver each, per the official launch-day update log). It comes from selling items and clearing the maze; the base storage cap is 50,000, and a 2x Silver Capacity gamepass raises it. Between 100-silver enchants and gem rolls, a single upgrade session can eat a large chunk of the cap, so bank silver before rolling. Failed enchant attempts most often produce a message about not having enough money — check your wallet before blaming the system.
Using a gem once you have it
Bring the gem to the blacksmith and enchant your currently equipped weapon; the enchant price is 100 silver. Different gems correspond to different enchants, but the full enchant list and gem-to-enchant mapping are not yet confirmed. As a gameplay example, a Shadow Diamond applied at the blacksmith produced the 'Shadow Lightning' enchant: imbue weapon with shadow lightning dealing seven damage, stunning for 0.5s, and applying shadow fire. Community reports also mention enchantment tomes applied at the enchanter/enhancement NPC in the spawn area, though how tome effects differ from gem enchants is unconfirmed.
The game is in early beta, so prices, caps, and rates may change with patches — recheck the numbers in-game before spending.
