The Veil Cultist Class: Abilities, Role and Playstyle

What the Cultist class in The Veil does: its granted abilities (Intercepting Domain, False Image, Shade Tier), how the insanity and summon kit behaves, and its limits in practice.

The Cultist is a confirmed class in The Veil (Roblox MMORPG), described in-game as "a zealot who prays on the minds of the weak. They induce crippling insanity and madness, blurring those who dare to cross their path." It functions as the Sins-path summoner: area control through insanity effects and apparition summons, excelling at locking down targets with madness, concussing effects and suicide summons. It is unlocked via a class quest at the Weeping Crypt trainer — see the dedicated unlock walkthrough for the trainer and prerequisite sequence.

Verified kit

Completing the class quest grants three named abilities, plus a bonus passive on the domain:

  • Intercepting Domain — "Fabricate an Abnormal Apparition": a summon that chases its target and explodes on death for 25 damage while draining sanity. The scaling stat wasn't clearly shown in the footage. The summon costs 5 HP to cast, has only 1 HP itself, and can be recast repeatedly. In the showcase, its explosion dealt roughly 6–7 damage without any summon-damage gear; summon-damage race bonuses and tailored gear would raise that output.
  • False Image (aura) — "Conjure dome to destroy of reality, plunging those into madness every 3 seconds": damages for 5 and drains 15 sanity, concussing those inside. It costs 2% health and 15 sanity to cast. Demonstrated indoors as a sustained damage-over-time effect of roughly 7 on a target inside the dome.
  • Shade Tier (dash) — "Tear into light and bash for one damage, blinding those hit for a moment." No damage multiplier, and enemy damage resistance is ignored — dashing into or through an enemy deals 1 damage and blinds them. Demonstrated dashing through summons.
  • Bonus passive — the domain deals 8 damage at 2.5-second intervals, on an 8-second cooldown. Aura and ability each cost 5 sanity.

A second demonstration shows a summon move on G that summons up to three clones of yourself, reinforcing the class's strength for summoner playstyles. The two demonstrations don't fully agree on ability-to-key mapping: one reads the paid ability as Intercepting Domain (the exploding summon) and the aura as False Image, while the other describes the G move as summoning clones. Check your hotbar in-game to confirm which ability sits on which key.

Practical behavior and limitations

  • The apparition summon works like a suicide bomber: it chases, then explodes — but it dies to a single hit at 1 HP.
  • The domain aura is strongest in enclosed spaces — inside a building, targets can't simply walk out of the dome, so the insanity and damage-over-time stack up.
  • Damage figures shown in gameplay were recorded without summon-damage bonuses, so your numbers will vary with race and gear.
  • One player rates the dash's shadow step as faster than the normal dash, but that's an untested impression; the blinding dash-through behavior is the confirmed part.
  • Player claims that the class is stronger than any other class and oppressive in PvP are opinions, not verified tier placement. The Veil's classes come in super and ultra tiers, and Cultist's tier is currently unstated — don't assume either.

System context

Within The Veil's class system, summoning comes in two alignments: Sky Sentinel on the Offerings side and Cultist on the Sins side. Note that hybrid loadouts forfeit pure-class stat buffs, which matters if you plan to mix Cultist abilities with another class.

Once you've reviewed the kit, the dedicated unlock walkthrough covers the class quest, trainer and requirements needed to acquire the Cultist.
